Brendan Collins is a public health economist who has worked in the NHS, academia, local Government, Welsh Government and as a consultant for UNICEF. He is leading the Public Health Economics and Value (PHEV) Team in Public Health Wales. He was previously Head of Health Economics, Advanced Analytics and Policy Modelling in Welsh Government, leading on modelling during the covid-19 pandemic. A lot of his work has been around cost effectiveness of public health interventions and policies like the sugary drinks tax (SDIL), the 9pm watershed for advertising unhealthy foods, etc. He also works as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Public Health, Policy and Systems at University of Liverpool. Outside of work he likes playing music and running.
