On September 10th the WHO launched first Health Equity Status Report for Europe.

The WHO European Health Equity Status Report initiative (HESRi) is being developed as a mechanism to promote and support policy action and commitment for health equity and wellbeing in the European Region. Specifically, the HESRi aims to shift political and policy focus from describing the problem to capturing progress and enabling action to increase equity in health. As you know, the WHO Collaborating Centre at Public Health Wales has been working closely with the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development (the Venice Office) and the Welsh Government in this area. It is envisaged that Wales, together with Italy, would be the first Influencer Nations to pilot the report and use it to reduce health inequity and help achieve better health, wellbeing and prosperity for all. This would support sustainable development and inclusive economic growth, as well as ‘Building ‘A Healthier Wales’’ and ‘A More Equal Wales’.
