{"id":5997,"date":"2024-11-27T16:20:35","date_gmt":"2024-11-27T16:20:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phwwhocc.co.uk\/whiasu\/?p=5997"},"modified":"2024-11-27T16:20:36","modified_gmt":"2024-11-27T16:20:36","slug":"wales-health-impact-assessment-support-unit-marks-20-years-of-shaping-a-healthier-wales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/phwwhocc.co.uk\/whiasu\/wales-health-impact-assessment-support-unit-marks-20-years-of-shaping-a-healthier-wales\/","title":{"rendered":"Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit marks 20 years of \u2018shaping a healthier Wales\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/phwwhocc.co.uk\/whiasu\/\">Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit (WHIASU)<\/a>&nbsp;has marked 20 years of helping to \u201cshape a healthier, more equitable Wales\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unit, which provides guidance, training, resources and information in relation to the practice of health impact assessment, celebrated the milestone anniversary on November 14 by <a href=\"https:\/\/publichealthnetwork.cymru\/event\/whiasu20\/\">hosting a webinar in partnership with Public Health Network Cymru<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, which attracted participants from various sectors, attendees reflected on WHIASU&#8217;s development over the last 20 years, explored the practical application of health impact assessment, and discussed its future &#8211; especially with the upcoming introduction of health impact assessment regulations by the Welsh Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the event, two new resources were introduced:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/phwwhocc.co.uk\/resources\/putting-the-spotlight-on-health-well-being-and-equity-using-health-impact-assessment-case-studies-from-public-bodies-in-wales\/\"><strong>\u2018Putting the Spotlight on Health, Well-being and Equity Using Health Impact Assessment: Case Studies from Public Bodies in Wales\u2019<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;features multiple examples of HIAs conducted in Wales across diverse sectors and levels of depth,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/phwwhocc.co.uk\/resources\/20-years-of-the-wales-health-impact-assessment-support-unit-whiasu-and-the-evolution-of-health-impact-assessment-hia-in-wales\/\"><strong>WHIASU@20 infographic<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;highlights the unit&#8217;s accomplishments as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The panel also considered where health impact assessment might be in another 20 years, given the significant changes the field has undergone over the past two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Liz Green, Programme Director for HIA, WHIASU, said: &#8220;Twenty years in, WHIASU stands as a testament to the power of Health Impact Assessments to shape a healthier, more equitable Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs we look to the future, our commitment to evidence-driven change remains strong\u2014building on past lessons and advancing practices that put health, well-being and equity at the heart of public policy, especially with the introduction of the Health Impact Assessment regulations by Welsh Government in 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/phwwhocc.co.uk\/whiasu\/\">WHIASU team page<\/a>\u00a0for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The&nbsp;Wales Health Impact Assessment Support Unit (WHIASU)&nbsp;has marked 20 years of helping to \u201cshape a healthier, more equitable Wales\u201d.
