Bringing together public health professionals from across the UK, the 2017 Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Annual Conference ‘Public health beyond borders: driving change with evidence’ focused on two key themes this year: putting evidence into practice and planetary health. The Conference was a great opportunity for Public Health Wales to show case expertise in both fields.
The International Health Coordination Centre (IHCC) presented its work on Global Citizenship training for Welsh health professionals and the Charter for International Health Partnerships in Wales, contributing to the Conference’s discussions on the work made by public health professionals to planetary health. The day also included a session on the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015, entitled ‘What Wales is doing today the world will do tomorrow’ as well as a presentation on a new resource being developed to support planning and health practioners in Wales: ‘Planning for Better Health and Wellbeing’. A poster on the Making a Difference report was also presented, illustrating the use of international and national evidence to inform policy in Wales.
